| The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.9.3 because the Office of Student Affairs, as a major organizational and administrative unit of the University, supports and enhances the mission of the University. The Office of Student Affairs supports the goals of the University mission statement and "is committed to maintaining a diverse academic community of the highest quality, and to providing an environment that facilitates intellectual, cultural, personal, and professional growth." Ms. Delois H. Smith, MEd, Counseling, is the Vice President for Student Affairs. The following narrative briefly discusses the mission of each of the major areas in the Office of Student Affairs and then lists personnel supporting that area. The staff members hold degrees in a variety of areas, but have relevant experience for their assignments. Counseling Center The Counseling Center is located organizationally within Student Development Services under the Office of Student Affairs. The major activities of the Counseling Center include: individual and group counseling services for personal and academic concerns, crisis management, outreach program development, consultation, and research. Associated personnel include: Susan L. Brandt, PhD, Counseling Psychology Director, Counseling Center Jared M. Dinehart, PhD, Counseling Psychology Counselor, Student Development Services Abdel El Mubarak, PhD, Economic History Coordinator, International Student Services Disability Support Services To ensure equal access for students with disabilities to all curricular and co-curricular opportunities offered by the University. To provide leadership to the campus community to enhance understanding and support of services available. Disability Support Services works individually with students to determine appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations and to ensure that students' academic performance is evaluated apart from the limiting effects of the disability. Dinehart, PhD, Counseling Psychology Counselor, Student Development Services Judicial Affairs It is the mission of the Office of Judicial Affairs to provide a fair and impartial system of justice to deal with discipline problems. Every effort will be made to protect the rights of students and inform them of their rights and responsibilities. Students will receive assistance in comprehending University policies, procedures, and grievances and will be encouraged to become involved in the process. The Office of Judicial Affairs promotes appropriate behavior and conduct among students. Personnel include: Antonia F. Morgan, MA, Public Affairs Judicial Affairs Officer University Center/Auxiliary Services The purpose of the Auxiliary Services in the University Center is to provide facilities and resources to enhance the student development. Personnel include: Doug Saunders, MS, Student Personnel Services Director, University Center Cathi Curtis, BS, Human Environmental Sciences Director, Student Activities, University Center Nate J. Bailie, BA, Political Science Facilities Manager, University Center Wellness Center The Wellness Center provides high quality, affordable on campus health care to currently enrolled students of the University. Affordable, accessible health care services are necessary to help ensure health. The Wellness Center is available to assist students achieve and maintain their health goals to better enable them to achieve their academic and life goals. Personnel include: Julia L. Boehme, MSN, CRNP Nurse Practitioner, Wellness Center Kirk Holdsambeck, MD Collaborating Physician, Wellness Center Janet Cooper, BS, Nursing Registered Nurse, Wellness Center Shari Olive, BS, Nursing Registered Nurse, Wellness Center Office of Career Services The Office of Career Services (OCS) provides career development and educational servᆲices that assist students and graduates of the University in career planning, job placement, and graduate admissions.
