Narrative:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 2.6 because academic programs were initiated in Huntsville in 1950; in 1963 degree opportunities at the master's level were provided and in 1964, at the baccalaureate level. The first master's degree based on work begun and completed in Huntsville was awarded in 1964. The first undergraduate degrees were awarded in 1968. In June 1969, the University of Alabama Board of Trustees established The University of Alabama System with UAH as one of three independent, autonomous campuses. According to the UAH Undergraduate Catalog 2003-2005 and the UAH Graduate Catalog 2003-2005, the University offers degree-granting programs that include 29 bachelor's degree programs, 18 master's degree programs, and 12 doctoral degree programs through its five colleges; Administrative Science, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Science. In Fall Semester 2004, UAH enrolled 5,523 undergraduate and 1,513 graduate students.
