[Compliance]

Narrative:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.6.1 because there is a clear delineation between the academic content for undergraduate programs and the content for master's and doctoral degree programs, which is determined by the graduate faculty with appropriate review by the graduate dean, Graduate Council, and administration.

The Graduate Council reviews graduate curriculum proposals, sets University-wide academic standards for graduate programs, and develops policies and procedures for the effective administration of graduate degrees. All academic matters pertaining to graduate degree programs are determined by this group. The Curriculum Committee consists of five members of the Graduate Council, one from each college, appointed by the Graduate Dean and approved by the Graduate Council. The Curriculum Committee is called upon by the Graduate Dean to examine graduate courses presented for approval. The Curriculum Committee makes recommendations to the Graduate Dean. The Committee may recommend acceptance, rejection, or modification to courses presented for its consideration. In formulating its recommendations, the Committee considers the overall importance of the proposed course both to the specific graduate program involved and to other programs across the University, and the extent to which the proposed course overlaps existing course offerings in the same, or another, department or program. Academic content and rigor are assured through the University's standards for graduate faculty, which include the requirements for graduate faculty status, the qualifications for appointment to the graduate faculty, and the privileges and responsibilities of graduate faculty for graduate education.
