For each major in a degree program, the institution assigns
responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development
and review, to persons academically qualified in the field. In those
degree programs for which the institution does not identify a major,
this requirement applies to a curricular area or concentration.

Narrative:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.4.13 because UAH assigns responsibility for program coordination, curriculum development, and curriculum review to academically qualified faculty members. The UAH Faculty Handbook, Chapter 4, Section 5, states, "The chair has administrative responsibility for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the department's instructional, research, and service programs." For the three interdisciplinary graduate programs at UAH (PhD programs in Biotechnology Science and Engineering, Materials Science, and Optical Science and Engineering) a program coordinator has this responsibility. Department chairs and area heads are listed on the UAH SACS website with links to their curriculaum vita. The UAH Online Profile System (OPS) documents the credentials of each faculty member teaching in a degree program. The OPS shows that each department chair and program coordinator at UAH has appropriate academic qualifications.
