Narrative:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.4.5 because UAH disseminates documents that state its academic policies and accurately represent its programs and services. Those policies adhere to principles of good educational practice.

The academic policies of UAH are given in the UAH Undergraduate Catalog 2003-2005, the UAH Graduate Catalog 2003-2005, the UAH Student Handbook 2004-2006, the UAH Faculty Handbook, the UAH Instructor Information Booklet, and the Fall Semester 2004 Schedule of Classes. These documents are available in Charger Central, Academic Advising offices, college and department offices, and on the web. The programs and services of UAH are accurately represented in these documents as well. An Academic Affairs Policies and Procedures Manual is on file in the Office of the Provost.

Graduate academic policies are drafted and approved by the Graduate Council, and receive final approval from the University Provost. These policies conform to the principles of good educational practice with respect to graduate programs as described by the Council of Graduate Schools. Graduate Academic Policies are published in the UAH Graduate Catalog 2003-2005 and in the UAH Graduate School Handbook 2003.

The adherence of UAH academic policies to principles of good educational practice is assured through regular participation of UAH administrators in national, regional, and state meetings of organizations involved in setting academic policy standards. The scope of these organizations ranges from the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges to the Alabama Chief Academic Officers to the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences to statewide meetings of department chairs. With rare exceptions, every academic administrator participates in one or more organizational meetings each year. Many administrators hold or have held offices in these professional organizations. In some cases, UAH academic administrators participate in internet discussion groups in which important academic policy issues are discussed.
