3.2.9 The institution defines and publishes policies regarding appointment and employment of faculty and staff.

Narrative:
The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.2.9 because it has developed and defined policies on appointment and employment for faculty and staff. These policies are published and easily accessible. Policies regarding appointment of faculty are published in the UAH Faculty Handbook, Chapter 7 and Chapter 9 which is available in hard copy and also located on the UAH website. The Office of the Provost is responsible for implementation of all policies regarding appointment and employment of faculty.

The Office of Human Resources is responsible for policies and procedures associated with appointment and employment of all University staff. These policies and procedures are published in the UAH Staff Handbook, Chapter 1 and other documents including the following ones that are available on the Human Resources website:
  • Staff Handbook

  • Affirmative Action Policy

  • Family Medical Leave Act Policy

  • Harassment and On the Job Injury Policy

  • Current job vacancies, hiring guidelines, job application procedures, and the directions to the staff employment office

  • Career counseling

  • Forms and Temporary Services
