| The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is in compliance with Principle 3.2.8 because its administrators and officers are qualified in their respective positions. UAH defines administrators as: the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, and Academic Directors who, with their faculty colleagues shape, direct, and implement the mission of UAH. They are listed in the UAH Undergraduate Catalog 2003-2005, p. 345. A brief summary of their qualifications follows. Frank Franz, PhD, has served as UAH President since 1991. Before coming to UAH, he served at Indiana University where he became Dean of Faculties and then he served as Provost at West Virginia University. He is respected in his position, having served in the state as Chair of the Council of Presidents, Alabama Colleges and Universities and has taken a leading role in the community. (Curriculum vitae for Dr. Frank Franz) Lewis Radonovich, PhD, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer of the University. He came to UAH in 2000 after serving as Dean, College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Florida for seven years, and Professor and Chair of the Chemistry Department and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Dakota. Greenwood, PhD, has served as the Vice President for Research at UAH since 1998 and is currently also Director for the Space Science and Technology Alliance. Prior to this position he was manager of the Global Hydrology Project office for NASA. From 1991 to 1994 he was President/CEO of Nichols Research Corporation, a high-technology research company in Huntsville. She served UAH as Interim Vice President from 1999 to 2002 and was Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs from 1996 to 1999. She received her MAEd in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida. (Curriculum vitae for Ms. Delois Smith) Ray Pinner, MBA, has served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at UAH since 2000. Prior to that time he was Assistant Vice President for Finance and Budgets at UAH from 1994 to 2000. Mr. Pinner is also a CPA and a CMA. (Curriculum vitae for Mr. Ray Pinner) J. Derald Morgan, PhD, has served as Vice President for University Advancement since 1999. He is also Executive Director of the University of Alabama in Huntsville Foundation. Before coming to UAH, he was Dean and Professor of Electrical Engineering at New Mexico State University from 1985 to 1999, and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Missouri-Rolla. Her prior position was Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Acting Dean of the School of Education at the University of Tennessee Martin. She also served as the Dean of University College at Alabama A & M University. Aunon, ScD, PE, has served as the Dean of the College of Engineering since 1998. Prior to his appointment as dean, he was Dean of Engineering at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX, Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering at Colorado State University, and Professor of Electrical Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Aunon is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. (Curriculum vitae for Dr. Jorge I. Aunon) C. Fay Raines, PhD, has served as Dean of the College of Nursing since 1990. She also serves UAH as Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness since 1997. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Prior to coming to UAH she was Interim Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Virginia School of Nursing. (Curriculum vitae for Dr. C. Fay Raines) John Fix, PhD, has served as Dean of the College of Science since 1999. Prior to his appointment as dean, he was Associate Dean for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Iowa from 1992 to 1998. He received his PhD in Astrophysics from Indiana University. (Curriculum vitae for Dr. John Fix) Sue Kirkpatrick, PhD, has served as the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts since 1996. Prior to her appointment as dean, she was Chair of the Department of Psychology. She has also held administrative positions as Director of the Academic Advising Center and Interim Director of Admissions and Records at UAH. (Curriculum vitae for Dr. Sue Kirkpatrick) Wilson Luquire, PhD, has served as Dean of the M. Louis Salmon Library since 1992. He received his doctorate in Library and Information Science at Indiana University. He previously served as the Chief Librarian of the City College of New York and Dean of Library Services at Eastern Illinois University. Prior to this appointment she was the Associate Dean of the College of Science and Professor of Biological Sciences. She received her PhD in Biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University. He is also the Executive Assistant to the President of UAH and the Associate Director of Governmental Relations for The University of Alabama System. Mr. Smith holds MA degrees in aeronautical and mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Tennessee. Prior to this appointment, she served UAH as the Director of Professional Services. She received her MSM from UAH and is currently a doctoral student in education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Prior to this appointment he was Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Professor of English. His PhD in English is from Emory University. He is a Professor of History in the College of Liberal Arts. He is Professor of Chemistry, and holds a PhD from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London.
