digital world of the World Wide Web is a new medium presenting us
with new challenges. The CMC program at UAH was created to meet
these challenges. |

What is
a cognate, precisely? It is an interdisciplinary minor across
multiple fields of study. As such, computer mediated communications
at UAH is a fusion of courses within the fields of graphic design,
communication arts, and information technology. Rather than focusing
upon simply learning how to build a web page, the web cognate
emphasizes the enduring principles of web site development that can
be drawn from each of these three fields. It teaches more than just
how to put information online. It teaches how to integrate all
elements of web design into the creation of a site that is superior
in all facets of design, communication, and usability.
